Friendly Phone Program:

The program provides a sense of companionship to seniors and disabled persons living alone. Contact is made by phone on Wednesday and Friday afternoons from the Community Services office. The Friendly Phone Program is a free service provided by volunteers. To register for the Friendly Phone Program, please call 604-796-2585.

Better at Home Program:

Better at Home is a program that helps seniors with simple day-to day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their homes and remain connected to their communities. Volunteers and paid contractors provide the non-medical supports to help seniors remain independent in their homes. The Government of British Columbia funds the program, United Way of the Lower Mainland manages it and local non-profit organizations provide the services.

Agassiz-Harrison Community Services provides:

  • Transportation
  • Light housekeeping
  • Friendly visits
  • Minor home repair
  • Transportation to Chilliwack for food shopping

 Seniors who receive Better at Home services will pay a fee for some services based on their income. Some services may be free.

Senior Peer Support Program:

The Senior Peer Support Program delivers one-on-one services provided by trained senior volunteers who offer emotional support, guidance and empathy to at-risk peers troubled by loneliness, depression, isolation, loss and/or conflict with loved ones as well as other life changes.

The Senior Peer Support Program assists seniors facing anxiety or frustration because of a new living situation, relocation, retirement changes, reduced income, health or aging concerns and bereavement.
