Amanda Graham
Board Chairperson

Amanda joined the Board of Directors in 2016 when she was appointed Treasurer of the Board. Since then, she has worked to create a comprehensive financial policy for the organization. Amanda has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from SFU and works as an administrator for the District of Mission. Her involvement with AHCS is her first experience in non-profit work, however, she is looking forward to serving the community for many years to come.

Tom Baldwin
Vice Chairperson

Tom is in his tenth year as a Board member and has been Chair for two of those. Tom is a retired teacher and school administrator who had a 33-year teaching career, the last 13 of which were spent in Agassiz. 

Tom has a BA from UBC and a MEd from SFU.  He has a strong desire to be involved with AHCS and its delivery of social services in Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs.  Since his retirement, Tom has been an active volunteer in the community.  This has included Agassiz Speedway, the Kent Agricultural Advisory Committee and the Citizens Advisory Committee for Kent Institution.

John Zuidhof
Treasurer

I joined the AHCS board in September 2015. I served as an educator (teacher and principal) for 39 years.  Retiring in June 2017, allowed me more time with grandchildren and in other volunteer capacities.

Together with Jacquie, my wife, we've participated in the Olive Branch Dinners since 2008.  You might also find me tending the gardens at South Garden Vacation Rental, a business we have operated since 2003.

Katrina Gormley
Secretary

Katrina is serving her first term on the Board of Directors.  She has a wide range of experience working with children and youth in the community, most recently as a special education assistant at both elementary and high school levels.  She now works as an elementary school teacher in School District 78 - Fraser Cascade. Katrina completed her Bachelor of Education as well as Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care at the University of the Fraser Valley.  Agassiz has been home to Katrina since early childhood.

Jennifer Todd
Director

Jennifer is serving her first term on the Board of Directors. She is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Masters’ Degree in Counselling Psychology.  She has worked for over twenty-five years providing counselling in various community, mental health, hospital and educational settings throughout Alberta and BC.

 Jennifer has volunteered extensively with seniors, youth organizations, health and wellness, sport and recreation events. She resides in Harrison Hot Springs, while working in private practice. She has been active with the Harrison Yacht Club, the Harrison Festival Society and various community events based on a passion for strengthening the community. 

Tom Walker
Director

Tom Walker is serving his first term on the Board of Directors.  Tom is a retired Business Executive with more than 35 years of global healthcare industry leadership. He has expertise in corporate governance, strategic planning, product development, sales and marketing, and operational management. Tom has held senior management positions with Eli Lilly (Toronto, ON and Seattle, WA), Cardinal Health (San Diego, CA) and AGFA HealthCare (Waterloo, ON). He has also held several directorship positions throughout his career. 

Tom lives with his wife Vivian in Harrison Hot Springs where they were married almost 40 years ago. They have two sons, Luke, who lives in Oahu, and Ben, who lives in Waterloo, Ontario.  

Darcy Striker
Director

Darcy Striker is serving his first term on the Board of Directors.  Darcy is married with 4 children, all of whom are adults now. He has lived in Agassiz for 55 years.  He has been at Lordco Parts for 30 years, managing the Agassiz branch for the past 24 years.  As well, Darcy was a Councillor for the District of Kent for 16 years.

Phyllis Stenson

Phyllis was on the Board of Directors from 2003 to 2007 serving four years as Chair during that time.  In September 2015 she accepted the position of Office Manager to oversee AHCS’ operations for a three month period during the hiring process of a new Executive Director.  In early 2016 she returned to the Board and was Vice-Chair from 2019 until her passing.  Phyllis served as Chair of AHCS’ subsidiary company, Agassiz-Harrison Employment and Support Services Incorporated, and also represented AHCS on the Board of Fraser Valley Employment and Support Services Cooperative.  As well, in recent years she volunteered at the Thrift store.  Phyllis was highly respected for her experience and wisdom, both of which will be greatly missed.
