Food Bank

The Agassiz-Harrison Community Services Society (AHCSS) Food Bank is funded by Community Gaming Grants as well as on going donations from local organizations, businesses’, families and individuals. In 2020 Agassiz-Harrison Community Services Food Bank provided over 850 food hampers to households in need. 

The AHCSS Food Bank provides at least 3 to 5 days’ worth of food to clients in need.

Need Help from the Food Bank?

Households in need within the District of Kent, Harrison Hot Springs and surrounded areas are able to access the Food Bank once per month.

The Food Bank distributes food hampers every Thursday only by appointment from 10:00 -12:00 & 1:00-3:00 pm. To make an appointment call 604-796-2585

To register for the Food Bank please fill out a form online or in person, and provide the following documents for each family member: Registration Form

  • Photo ID (BC ID, Drivers License, passport, care card or status card) 
  • Prove of address (Rental agreement, utility bill, or unopened mail

Non-perishable donations: 

​Are accepted at the AHCSS Food Bank Monday-Friday between 9am & 4:30pm.

We accept unopened and undamaged goods.

Please do not donate expired items as it becomes an expense to the Food Bank.

We cannot accept homemade or home canned items.

Best Items to donate:

   * Canned Proteins        *Peanut Butter

   *Brown Rice                  *Cereal

   *Kids Snacks                 *Shelf Staple Milk

   *Canned soup              *Hygene Products (shampoo, toothpaste/toothbrush, shower gel, and cleanning products.) 

Perishable donations:

We accept refrigerated and frozen donations, in original sealed packaging.

All items must have been stored in accordance with Food Safe Standards.

Please call ahead to ensure we have space in our fridges & freezers.

Best Items to donate:

   *Dairy Items (milk, yogurt, eggs, cheese, butter)

   *Fresh / Frozen Proteins (meat, chicken, fish, pork, beef)

   *Fresh /Frozen fruits & vegetables

Fresh Produce donations:

​Fresh produce of any variety is accepted every Wednesday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm 

Please ensure all produce is pest, rot & mold free. 

Large Food Donations

Are you planning on donating more than 200lbs of food items to our food bank?​

  • Please call ahead to schedule a date and time to drop off your donations.
  • Receiving large food donations require us to bring in additional volunteers to help sort, weight, box and store these donations.
